A STAR SAPPHIRE AND DIAMOND RING
A STAR SAPPHIRE AND DIAMOND RING Set with a cabochon star sapphire, within an undulating brilliant and tapered baguette-cut diamond ballerina surround, mounted in platinum, ring size 7 Accompanied by report no. 62199 dated 20 February 2012 from the SSEF Swiss Gemmological Institute stating that the approximately 120.00 carat star sapphire is of Burma (Myanmar) origin, with no indications of heating; also accompanied by an appendix stating that the natural star sapphire possesses extraordinary characteristics and merits a special mention and appreciation. The star sapphire exhibits an impressive size and weight, combined with an attractive star effect and a well-saturated colour. Microscopic examination revealed inclusions, which represent the hallmarks of classical sapphire mines from Burma (Myanmar). Its distinct and attractive star effect, also known as asterism, is an internal reflection effect on three sets of tiny rutile needles within the stone, thus contributing to the beauty of this sapphire. The gemstone has been spared exposure to heat treatment and its clarity and colour are all natural. A natural star sapphire from Burma of this size and quality is very rare and exceptional
