A SUITE OF GEORGE III GILTWOOD AND WHITE-PAINTED SEAT-FURNITURE, ATTRIBUTED TO MAYHEW & INCE, COMPRISING: FIVE OPEN ARMCHAIRS, A SETTEE AND A WINDOW-SEAT, each with padded seat and arms covered in pale yellow florally-decorated silk, formerly, but probably not originally, gilt overall and now partially re-gilt the armchairs each with inverted heart-shaped back surmounted by a double flowerhead entwined and flanked by husk swags, with channelled scrolled arms above a fluted apron divided by paterae, on turned tapering fluted legs headed by a guilloche collar and on ormolu lotus-leaf caps, one chair with later castors in the original caps, minor variations in construction to two the settee with serpentine back surmounted by a conforming swag-entwined double-patera, with solid padded sides and channelled downscrolled arms above conforming apron and legs, repair to back seat-rail the window-seat with serpentine-fronted seat flanked by scrolled solid sides with beaded patera terminals, on conforming legs without paterae the settee 79in.
