Place: [Charlotte, NC] Publisher: [Elam & Dooley] Date: 1895 Description: 32 pp. Illustrations from photographs. 16x11 cm (6¾x4½"), original pictorial wrappers. First Edition. George was convicted of murder in 1884 and was sentenced to be hanged, but was ''respited'' by Governor John Ireland who later commuted his sentence to life imprisonment in Huntsville (where John Wesley Hardin was also serving time). George was eventually exonerated and fully pardoned by Governor Sul Ross when a fellow prisoner confessed to the murder. Adams, Six-Guns 822. Lot Amendments Condition: Light wear; foxing; very good.
