A Victorian carved oak quarter chiming bracket clock Unsigned, late 19th century The substantial triple chain fusee movement chiming a choice of two tunes on a nest of eight bells every quarter and striking on a coiled gong every hour, with rise/fall regulation and holdfast for the large lenticular bob pendulum mounted on the backplate, the 8 inch single sheet silvered brass shallow-arch top dial with fine foliate rosette engraved centre and intense scroll decoration to spandrels and infill to arch incorporating subsidiary CHIME/SILENT, SLOW/FAST and CAMBRIDGE CHIMES/WESTMINSTER CHIMES selection dials, the case with fan carved triangular broken pediment above inverted breakfront repeating rosette applied frieze over brass fillet inset glazed front door flanked by projecting Corinthian columns, the sides with rectangular foliate pierced sound frets, on cavetto moulded skirt base with block feet, 58cm (23ins) high; with a carved oak wall bracket with pointed-arch shaped aperture to back panel and scroll side braces beneath moulded platform, the clock and wall bracket 92cm (36ins) high overall.
