A Victorian engraved gilt-brass strut timepiece James Gowland, London; later retailed by Charles Frodsham & Co. London. Circa 1870 The dial with silvered Roman chapter ring signed Jas. Gowland London Wall with blued steel hands, foliate engraved dial mask and centre, the movement with spring barrel and lever escapement with full backplate with the cut bimetallic compensated balance on the backplate viewed through a spring-loaded door in the back cover with easel stand, swivel stand in the base, the case engraved all over with foliage and with loop handle to the top; together with the original cruciform winding key and brown leather slender travelling case with brass loop handle to the top and velvet and satin lining, signed Charles Frodsham & Co. 21. South Molton St. London W. , 5¼in. (13.5cm.) high
