A Victorian walnut and burr walnut homoeopathic medicine chest, produced by J.C. POTTAGE HOMOEOPATHIC CHEMIST 117 PRINCE'S STREET EDINBURGH 134 BUCHANAN S T GLASGOW ; mid 19th Century of trunk style, the lid with leatherette lining with gold-tooled trade label and two pockets labelled PLAISTER one with a CALENDULA notelet cover, the chest fitted to hold fifty phials with paper content labels and cork stoppers ( some missing labels, damage to bottle and cork ) and area to hold instruction book ( missing ), with retaining rod to two drawers beneath with recessed handles and fitted to hold eighteen larger phials and bottles ( some replacements ), brass escutcheon and key 28.5 x 16.8 x 20cm. (11¼ x 6 5/8 x 7 7/8in.)
