Probably reconverted from percussion, with reblued octagonal sighted barrel signed 'Caspar Zelner' in gold along the top flat at the breech, inlaid with gold strapwork at the muzzle and breech and rifled with seven grooves, folding leaf back-sight, engraved tang, replacement lock (pan, steel, top jaw and screw replaced) signed 'Mayer In Wien' and engraved with a rabbit on the tail, figured full stock (some wear, fore-end repaired along each side) carved with rococco foliage, butt with cheekpiece on one side and patch-box on the other with later carved cover, brass mounts retaining traces of gilding and cast and chased with rocailles in low relief against a finely stippled ground, comprising shaped side-plate butt-plate, spur trigger-guard, faceted ramrod-pipes and fore-end cap, set trigger, and later brass-tipped ramrod 66.4 cm. barrel [P. 476]
