A Zürich 'Turkish group' Circa 1770, blue Z mark, incised .iN. Modelled with a lady with a conical puce headdress, gilt-flowered white blouse and brightly striped apron, flanked by two soldiers, one in a red cap, open loose green jacket and breeches, holding up a severed Turk's head in his right hand, the other in a black tricorn hat, a silvered breast-plate over a green jacket, yellow breeches and black boots, standing merrily, poised on one leg with a jug of wine in his left hand, the ground around them strewn with the implements of war including muskets, swords, maces, an axe, a shield, plume and a turban on a shaped rockwork mound base (both soldiers broken through and restored, tricorn hat restored, fine crack to right side of lady's body from shoulder to hem of skirt, small chipping to her headdress, chip to front edge of base, some wear to silvering) 6 3/8 in. (16.2 cm.) high
