Africa.- a small quantity of both albumen and other prints and engraved or etched plates, depicting exploration and travel, the prints with views of Cairo, Oyo (Benin), Uganda, South Africa (including Table Mountain), and others of unidentified locations, the plates showing hunters in Borneo, The Luangwa River, a village in Sierra Leone, Hottentot society and rituals, Alexandria, and the attack by the Dutch on St George's Castle on the Gold Coast (this last hand-coloured and taken from Mallet's 1683 Description de l'Univers, the other plates dating 18th or early 19th-c.), some prints mounted to card, some ink stamps to reverse, some soiling and faint foxing, card mounts with nicks and closed tears, plates with marginal browning and foxing; and some related ephemera, 4to et infra, v.d.
