Sold Without ReserveAfter Cristofano di Papi, called dell' AltissimoPortrait of Uguccione della Faggiuola (c. 1250-1319), bust-length, in profile inscribed upper left: UGO FAGIOLANUSoil on canvascanvas: 26½ by 20½ in.; 67.3 by 52.1cm.framed: 31¼ by 25¼ in.; 79.4 by 64.1cm.Condition reportThe canvas is lined and stable on its stretcher. The image reads well beneath darkened varnish with some abrasion visible on the cheek and neck of the figure. A surface level scratch at the top center is visible but not distracting. Under UV inspection, the varnish fluoresces unevenly but repairs are visible at the lower right corner, upper left corner, a spot on the sitter's hat and a few spots on his chest. Offered in an ebonized wood frame with gilt borders. The lot is sold in the condition it is in at the time of sale. The
