Author: Payne, John Place: London Publisher: Privately Printed Date: 1889 Description: xxi, 297 pp. With 9 fine etchings in double state, on Japan vellum and paper by Beaumont, including frontispiece with tissue-guards. 8¾x6¼, bound in full crushed burgundy morocco with floral gilt-stamped purple morocco inlay on front cover, spine lettered in gilt, raised bands, inner gilt dentelles, patterned endpapers, top edge gilt. No. 12 of 25 copies. "Edition des Amateurs." A classic, found in the Book of the Thousand and One Nights, elaborately produced in a special illustrated and limited leather-bound edition. Lot Amendments Condition: Spine a bit darkened, other minor dark spots (chiefly to edges), top 2" of front joint splitting; hinges cracked (more so to front); near fine overall. Item number: 167870
