Alec Victor Bedser. Surrey & England 1939-1960. M.C.C. navy blue cloth Test touring cap, by Simpson of Piccadilly, with excellent embroidered touring emblem of St. George & Dragon. Name hand printed to inside label. Previously sold by Vennett-Smith's Auction in November 2000, lot 2487. Some signs of wear otherwise in good+ condition
Twin brother of Eric Arthur Bedser, was the principal seam bowler in England from 1946 onwards until the mid 1950's. In his first two Tests for England he achieved match figures of 11 wickets for 145 and 11 wickets for 93. His total of 236 Test wickets created a new world record. He took 100 wickets in a season on eleven occasions with 162 his best in 1953. He was Chairman of selectors from 1969-1981 and managed several overseas M.C.C. tours
