Condition ReportThis rare double set of Stieglitz's '291' includes a complete deluxe and a complete regular edition. The deluxe edition is printed on thick, sleek paper. Nos. 10/11 of both editions is printed on a glossy paper. Each Number is in generally excellent condition. Nos.1 and 5/6 of the regular edition are very slightly age-darkened overall. 'The Steerage' included in the deluxe edition, printed on thin Japanese paper, has a very minor crease at the upper left margin corner; 'The Steerage' included in the regular edition is printed on Japanese vellum; there is image offsetting on the interior of Nos. 7/8 in which the photogravure is enclosed. The Modern Gallery announcement included in the deluxe edition is printed on thin tissue paper, while that included in the regular edition is printed on a thicker wove paper. The wrappers are in generally excellent condition, except for a few very minor creases. The portfolio case is worn overall. It is fully separated at the spine, and 1/3 of the spine is detached but present.
