AN 11-BORE BOHEMIAN FLINTLOCK HOLSTER PISTOL SECOND QUARTER OF THE 18TH CENTURY The barrel with sighting flat and brass fore-sight, the breech chiselled in bas-relief with foliage and the figure of Mars surmounted by a baldachin, all on a gilt ground, tang with foliage against a gilt ground, flat bevelled lock (top jaw and screw replaced) chiselled and gilt with foliage involving a grotesque on the plate and a bird on the cock, moulded figured walnut full stock (a working replacement) carved around the barrel tang and enriched with iron nails, gilt-brass mounts cast and chased in relief against a stippled ground with strapwork and trophies of arms, the bow of the trigger-guard with a mounted horseman, the side-plate and pommel with mounted horsemen in combat, and the vacant escutcheon between captive supporters, a crown above, faceted ramrod-pipes, horn fore-end cap, and later ramrod 17½in. (44.4cm.)
