An 18ct gold and diamond brooch probably by Andrew Grima, the asymmetrical open starburst of fine short gold rods scattered with ten round brilliant cut diamonds, hallmarked London 1963, sponsor's mark HJ Co, length 5.8cm, estimated total weight of diamonds 1.09cts, gross weight 21.07g. After fighting with REME in Burma during WWII, Andrew Grima met and married Hélène Haller and went to work for her father, whose jewellery business was HJ Co, taking over in 1951 on his father-in-law's death; and the company continued to manufacture Grima's designs even after he established his own eponymous company. From the early 1960's Grima was also associated with the firm of Hooper Bolton, from whom this brooch was purchased. Estimate £2,000-3,000
