AN AGATE-HILTED TRANSITIONAL SMALL-SWORD with slender etched blade (incomplete) of hollow triangular section, the hilt (damaged) comprising short spherical quillons springing from a central block, ovoidal pommel and tapering grip, spirally gadrooned throughout and with narrow silver-gilt ferrules over the junctions of the parts, third quarter of the 17th Century; a German by-knife from a sword scabbard, with single-edged blade with a clipped point, struck on one face with a fleur-de-lys mark, and beaked handle with natural staghorn grips, early 17th Century; a Spanish folding knife (Navaja) of characteristic form, the blade stamped 'Zaragosa' and with a name, cowhorn and brass-mounted handle, 19th Century; a Dutch or German boxwood scabbard (damaged) carved with scenes (rubbed) and engraved with the maker's initials 'WWG', with engraved brass locket, late 16th Century; the upper part of an etched small-sword blade, late 17th Century; and two small socket bayonets, one in original brass-mounted leather scabbard, 18th Century The first 10¾in.
