An Attic black-figure lip cup, attributed to the Centaur Painter Circa 550-530 B.C. The black glazed interior with reserved line within the lip, at the centre a reserved disc with central circle and dot, on exterior a black line just below lip and reserved stripe on black body, reserved edge to foot with one black dot Lip A: A hunter running to the left, the man naked with sword strung over his right shoulder, his left arm extended in front of him, poised to thrust the long spear upheld in his right hand, red and white detail on his hair and sword Lip B: A bull shown facing right, struck by a spear which is embedded in its right shoulder, it staggers from the blow, added red and white detail, (repaired from fragments, with very minor restoration to lower body) 3 11/16in. (9.4cm.) high, 7 11/16in. (19.5cm.) diam. incl. handles
