(Silver & Objects of Vertu, 31st March 2021) An early 19th century Chinese Export silver egg cruet, Canton circa 1820, mark of P reversed, for Punqua Winchong of Hong Kong An early 19th century Chinese Export silver egg cruet, Canton circa 1820, mark of P reversed, for Punqua Winchong of Hong Kong Of broadly oval form, the wire work frame raised upon four ball feet with redded cabriole sides leading to a galleried frame of six egg cup rings and six spoon holders, the central carrying handle of loop form with cast twin scallop shell and acanthus scroll apron. Fitted with six unmarked egg cups of plain circular form with reeded circular feet. Marked underneath with frame with pseudo hallmarks. Length – 18 cm / 7 inches Weight – 659 grams / 21.19 ozt Similar cruets with cast rims, one marked for Wongshing the other E, are illustrated in Forbes, Crosby, H.A., Devereux Kernan, J.,& Wilkins, R.S., Chinese Export Silver 1785 to 1885, (1975), Museum of the American China Trade, p. 221
