AN EGYPTIAN GILT CARTONNAGE MUMMY MASK LATE PTOLEMAIC PERIOD TO EARLY ROMAN PERIOD, CIRCA 1ST CENTURY B.C.-1ST CENTURY A.D. Painted in polychrome, the face gilt with black extended cosmetic lines, conforming brows, and large pupils, wearing a blue tripartite headcloth, striped and dotted in front, the hair fringing the forehead, the ears prominent, the lappets adorned with kneeling Isis and Nephthys, facing inward, the headcloth secured with a diadem fronted by a central raised gilt wedjat -eye and six bosses, looped and knotted in the back with descending ties, the multi-strand beaded broad collar visible between the lappets; some bituminous material preserved around the face 17¾ in. (45.1 cm.) high
