OLD KINGDOM, 6TH DYNASTY, CIRCA 2300-2181 B.C.
AN EGYPTIAN PAINTED WOOD FIGURE OF AN OFFICIAL OLD KINGDOM, 6TH DYNASTY, CIRCA 2300-2181 B.C. Depicted striding with the left leg advanced, wearing a long white shendyt -kilt with a stiff triangular apron secured by a projecting knot below his navel, his separately-made long arms pinned at the shoulders, his left hand at his side, the palm inward, his right resting on the edge of the apron, his slender torso nipped in at the waist, his head with black-and-white painted eyes and long tapering brows, a slender nose and thick lips, wearing a short wig of echeloned curls, his ears exposed, preserving red for the flesh tone throughout, inserted into a rectangular black plinth 12 3/8 in. (31.4 cm.) high
