An English gilt brass striking giant carriage clock, the twin chain fusee movement with unusual baluster pillars with similar shaped dial feet, cut bimetallic balance to gilt lever platform, maintaining power to the going side, strike on two gongs of square section, the backplate stamped Payne & Co., 163 New Bond St., London, the gilt dial with intricate foliate engraving similarly signed on a shaped reserve below the annular Roman enamelled chapter ring with pierced blued hands, the moulded case with engraved initials to the base, shaped handle to top, solid rear door with pierced foliate engraved border with shuttered hand set and winding holes to the centre 8¼in. (21cm.)
