An extraordinarily large English Victorian Japanned bells chiming table clock, W. Rivers 32-cm engraved silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals signed Wm Rivers London, foliate engraved gilt centre and strike/silent outside III, foliate pierced blued hands, silvered mask below with applied scroll ornament and moonphase, substantial three train fusee and chain movement with deadbeat escapement and foliate engraved backplate, rack hour striking on a bell and chiming the quarters on eight bells, japanned break arch case surmounted by two brass berry finials, ornate brass handles over pierced brass frets to the sides, brass lined glazed door with Chinese figures and flowers flanked by fluted brass Corinthian columns, similar decor of a small boat, plants and birds adorning the moulded plinth raised on bras scroll feet 89cm. high.
