An extremely fine and detailed 1:6 scale steel, brass and mahogany model of a British 18 pdr Mark IV Quick Firing Field Gun of circa 1920 built by W. Smith from his own researches and data supplied by the Imperial War Museum, London, with working Asbury single motion breech mechanism, working spring loaded recoil, working traverse, elevation and sighting mechanisms with independent gear boxes, handwheels and racks, dummy sight, cradle clamp, folding spiking handle with lock, spade and towing ring. Further details include a metal axle with metal tyred wooden wheels with separate spokes and fellies with bolted joint plates, bolted brass hub plates and caps, working brake gear with quick release, riveted and bolted shield with hinged top, seats, tool boxes, axe and shovel. Dummy ammunition includes shell case to demonstrate ejection mechanism and one each high explosive, phosphorous, shrapnel and armour piercing rounds, the whole finished in blued steel and polished brightwork -- 10¼ x 28½in.
