Arabic manuscript on cream-coloured paper, 4 lines of naskhi script in black ink, illuminated cornerpieces, background decorated with floral sprays, outer borders of green paper decorated with gilt sunbursts, some waterstaining, some flaking, framed, 190 x 267 mm.; and an illuminated calligraphic certificate (ijazet), signed by Ahmad al-Najati, a pupil of Muhammad 'Ali al-Nuri, better known as Muntaraji-zadeh, Ottoman Turkey, provincial, dated AH 1296/AD 1878-79, Arabic manuscript on paper laid down on card, 4 lines written in naskhi script in black ink, illuminated markers between verses, cornerpieces decorated with floral sprays, creased, outer borders of green paper, framed 175 x 225 mm.(2)
