AN IMPORTANT DIAMOND DOG COLLAR NECKLACE, designed as seven rows of diamond collets interspaced with rows of larger diamond collets set at regular intervals, mounted in silver and gold, circa 1895, in original fitted Boucheron case 33.0cm. long The dog collar necklace was popular in France from around 1870 and in England from 1880, they remained fashionable until the First World War. Worn in conjunction with a tiara, stomacher, necklace and pearls, the dog collar epitomises high society fashion of the fin de siécle.
