An Important Eskimo Ivory Human Head, Old Bering Sea I/Okvik, ca. 200 B.C. - 100 A.D. of classic stylized form, with finely carved pointed chin, diminutive grooved mouth, broad facial panel with high cheekbones carved in subtle relief, attenuated aquiline nose merging to a deeply incised linear mark on the tapering forehead, close-set eyes beneath slightly arched brows, an asymmetrical pattern of linear elements on the reverse; rich deep brown patina overall, a lighter area on the mouth. height 2 3/4 in. 7 cm
