An impressive Regency mahogany revolving library table, after a design by Thomas Sheraton and possibly manufactured by Gillows of Lancaster, the circular top inset with a gilt-tooled black leather writing surface above a frieze of four drawers and four dummy drawers, all fitted with gilt bronze lion mask handles, the square section pedestal fitted with a cupboard and cornered by projecting pilasters, carved with bellflower pendants, each issuing a scrolling support, raised on carved crocodile feet, the underside bearing label detailed 'Waring & Gillow Ltd, 180 Oxford Street, Removal and Warehousing Dept', height 81cm, diameter 177cm. Note: a design very similar to this table can be seen illustrated in Thomas Sheraton's 'The Cabinet-Maker, Upholsterer and General Artists' Encyclopaedia' of 1805, and 'English Furniture: Decoration, Woodwork and Allied Arts' by Thomas Arthur Strange.
