An Italian carved giltwood frame with an oil painting on copper after Carlo Maratta (1625-1713), the frame Roman first quarter 18th century the painting depicting The Virgin Mary appearing to St. Philip Neri, within a rectangular frame with a blue painted border, the ornate cresting in the form of a canopy with a baluster gadrooned urn at each corner flanking a swan neck pediment above tasselled lambrequins and a seraphim flanked by scrolls, the corners with similar baluster urns, the sides carved with a seraphim above a trail of husks, the shaped apron terminating in scrolled feet on a serpentine rectangular base and flattened bun feet; regilt Total height with base: 68cm. 2ft.2¼in., Frame only: 64cm. high, 43cm. wide; 2ft.¾in., 1ft.4½in.; Painting only: 23cm. high x 18cm. wide; 9in. x 7in.
