An Italian enamel, ruby and diamond toucan brooch by Frascarolo, the bird with dark green enamel plumage, a circular cut ruby eye and pave set diamond accents, signed Modele Frascarolo Depose, stamped '18Kt' and '750' with Italian control marks, 3.6cm long Pierino Frascarolo was born in Milan in 1928. After forming a business partnership with Aldo Lenti, they established a jewellery workshop in the Corso Matteotti in 1948. During the 1960's, Frascarolo became famous for their gold and enamel animal jewellery. Pierino Frascarolo subsequently relocated the business to New York with a new partner, Adriano Gugliada, and traded under the name Frascarolo & Co. Frascarolo died in Valenza in July 1976, aged only forty-eight. Condition report disclaimer
