AN ITALIAN INFANTRY BILL (RONCONE); AND AN ITALIAN PARTISAN Each circa 1520-30 The first with flat head double-edged above the triangular rear fluke, struck with a rosette mark on both sides, the leading-edge widening slightly in the middle and developing into a down curved projection, tapering central spike of flattened hexagonal section at its base, a pair of basal lugs, and rectangular socket with side-straps: on later staff; the second with double-edged hollow-ground blade, both sides formed with a strong full-length medial ridge tapering to a narrow diamond point, a pair of basal lugs, faceted tubular socket with side-straps, and decorated with a panel of punched foliage on both sides at the base: on later staff 35 3/8 i n (89,9cm) and 29¼ i n (74,3cm) heads (2)
