AN IVORY HILTED HUNTING SWORD, DUTCH OR GERMAN; AND TWO FURTHER GERMAN HUNTING SWORDS THE FIRST THIRD QUARTER 18TH CENTURY; THE REMAINING TWO LATE 18TH CENTURY The first with tapering blade double-edged towards the point, both sides etched with a series of game animals persued by hounds within a faux damascus panel over the greater part of each side, silver guard formed as a recumbent lion, and earlier ivory hilt carved with foliage in low relief and rising to a lion's head pommel: in associated leather scabbard with provision for extra pieces and chiselled iron locket and chape; The remaining two swords, one with serrated back edge blade and brass hilt cast in relief, including grotesque mask pommel, and the other with edged blade, brass hilt, and shagreen grip The first 59 cm.; the second 56 cm.; and the third 55 cm. blades (3)
