AN UNUSUAL DATED GILT-DECORATED BLACK-GROUND AND COPPER-RED-DECORATED CIRCULAR PLAQUE DATED BY INSCRIPTION TO THE DINGSI YEAR OF THE JIAQING PERIOD, CORRESPONDING TO 1797 The slightly recessed, black-glazed center is painted in gilding with an imperial poem by the Qianlong Emperor describing a good harvest year, followed by a cyclical date dingsi (1797) and two seals, Jia and Qing, all within an outer border decorated in iron red with five bats ( wufu ) in flight amidst scrolling clouds.
