An unusual late 18th-Century Continental hardwood medicine chest, unsigned , the interior lined with blue silk and bordered with cream and silver thread, the fitted upper layer with thirty-six facet-cut and plain water-white glass pharmacy jars with paper labels and stoppers, of varying sizes, one side panel rising to reveal a compartment for two drawers, the first with a sixteen-section upper tray containing seven handwritten packages, the base further divided into six sections containing two handwritten packages, the side section with three compartments containing two water-white pharmacy jars with stoppers, one facet-cut the other plain, and a package dated 1792, the second drawer containing a silvered spatula and another fitted section with seventeen facet-cut and plain water-white glass pharmacy jars with paper labels and stoppers, of varying sizes, the case with eschuteon and key, ivory pull and side carrying handles -- 17 1/8in.
