LATE 8TH/EARLY 7TH CENTURY B.C.
AN URARTIAN BRONZE BELT LATE 8TH/EARLY 7TH CENTURY B.C. Decorated with two bands of stylized running animals between bands of geometric motifs, edges pierced for lining attachment, four domed rivets remaining, mounted, 28 in. (71 cm.) long; and a large group of Near Eastern bronzes including two stags, each with high branching antlers, one mounted, 2 7/8 in. (7.3 cm.) long max.; a horse bit, the v-shaped cheekpieces terminating in stylized bird heads, 3½ in. (9 cm.) high; a long tapered pin with knobbed terminal, the upper shaft with incised decoration, 11½ in. (29.2 cm.) long; a 'Master-of-Animals' janiform finial, the central tube decoration with stylized heads, the top head with arms grasping the necks of cockerels, with cock heads emerging below, 7¾ in. (19.7 cm.) high; a penannular bracelet with flattened lion head terminals, 3¾ in. (9.5 cm.) diam. max; a kohl jar decorated with ram head protomes; two kohl jars decorated with ibex head protomes, one with associated ram-headed pin, jars 3½ in. (9 cm.) high max.; three kohl jars with associated animal-headed pins, 5¾ in.
