Various sizes, excised boxwood blocks, as used for small illustrations or vignettes or in apprentice carving, from a large collection consisting of blocks mostly attributed to Bewick and his workshop. Includes: An angler fishing a small waterfall amid woodlands; an angler landing a fish using his hat; an angler fishing near the Elvet bridge; plus one other block of a shepherd at rest with his dog. Provenance: The Julia Boyd collection (partial, purchased Sotheby's London, 16 February, 1960, lot 325).
