An 18 carat gold openface quarter repeating musical automata watch with associated 18 carat gold and enamel musical key Unsigned, circa 1850 With full plate gilt finished movement, highly pierced and engraved cock and foot, ruby endstone, repeating on two gongs, musical pin barrel, gilt cuvette, the eccentric gilt dial with Arabic numerals on polished chapter ring, chased two colour gold centrefield, surrounded by a painted polychrome enamel classical landscape surmounted by a varicoloured gilt scene depicting a seated lady playing a lyre and a putto and a butterfly rocking on a seesaw, the automata and music activated by depressing a lever in the band, in plain case with ribbed band, repeating through the pendant, together with an associated 18 carat gold and enamel musical key within an oblong case with polychrome champlevé enamel floral decoration centred by painted polychrome enamel classical landscapes to front and reverse, the musical mechanism wound through the pendant and activated by sliding a lever in the band, together with original fitted wooden presentation box, both unsigned 58 mm. diam. and 30 mm. wide (2)
