With 72 numbered engraved plates of which 21 are handcoloured layout designs for parks by Burggraaff (at least one of them signed by him) and 51 are plates by F. Callen with buildings, garden furniture and other embellishments etc. - Cont. black half calf on raised bands, gilt title and gilt compartments to spine (rubbed and bumped, spine restored). - Published in 12 instalments, each with 6 plates. Most of the coloured plans with a letter-press alphabetical key listing the features which include classical temples, obelisks, Gothic and Chinese pavilions, roundabouts, bridges, orangeries and glasshouses but also utilitarian buildings like servant's quarters, kitchens, gardener's cottages, concert and dance halls etc. - A few plates with marginal foxing, half title soiled, three plates at the end with slightly mould marks. - A broadmargined copy of a rare book.
