Apollo 11 crew train for the first lunar landing Apollo 11, 16-24 July 1969 Three vintage gelatin silver prints on fibre-based paper, 25.3 x 20.5 cm (10 x 8 in), with NASA/Kennedy Space Center captions on verso Provenance: from Tim Furniss collection Footnotes: In the run up to the first lunar landing the crew underwent rigorous trainings. In the first photograph Michael Collins practices navigation in a Command Module simulator while Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong trained to make documented sample retrievals from a mock-up lunar surface (second photograph). The third photograph shows the crew during an emergency egress training.
