Lot consisting of five officers who served on the staff or commanded various units in the 19th Corps under Banks during the Port Hudson and Red River Campaign: Brig. General. William Dwight (WIA & POW 5/5/62 Williamsburg as Lt. Col., 70th NY., Chief of Staff during Red River Campaign, commanded division in 19th Corps during Shenandoah Campaign and placed under arrest following battle of Winchester, m/o 1/15/66); Maj. Gen. Godfrey Weitzel (Chief Engineer under Butler at New Orleans, Brig. Gen. 8/29/62, Chief Engineer, Army of the James, bvt. Maj. Gen. 8/29/64, commanded 18th and 25th Corps, Maj. Gen. 11/17/64, 6 wartime brevets to Maj. Gen., died in service 3/19/84 at Lt. Col. Engineers; Brig. Gen. Charles P. Stone (Mexican War veteran with two brevets, Col. 14th US Inf. 5/14/61, Brig. Gen. 5/17/61, arrested & held responsible for Ball’s Bluff disaster, Chief of Staff to General Banks, m/o 4/4/64 by order of Sec. of War Stanton, resigned 9/13/64); Brig. Gen. Dan Ullman (Col., 78th NY “Highlanders,” POW Cedar Mountain 8/9/62, Brig. Gen. 1/13/63, organized Corps d’Afrique at Port Hudson, bvt. Maj. Gen. 3/13/65, m/o 8/24/65); and a another view of bvt. Maj.
