Art Deco Gold, Silver, Lapis, Nephrite Jade, Mother-of-Pearl and Diamond Desk Clock, Cartier, France The spherical lapis case divided by bands of gold, spaced by continuous gold circles, accented by triangle-shaped mother-of-pearl inlay, centering a circular engine-turned silver-tone dial with black Roman numerals, gold hands and railroad minute track, with gold bezel accented by 10 inlaid mother-of-pearl squares, round 8-day movement, push button activated time set and rotating bezel winding mechanism, the clock supported by three carved Egyptian-style nephrite jade owls with rose-cut diamond eyes, atop a modified hexagonal-shaped lapis base with gold and mother-of-pearl accents, backed by a silver panel, dial signed Cartier, France, case no. 1188 526, movement signed Couet, circa 1925, crystal missing, 2 mother-of-pearls missing. 3 3/4 x 2 1/4 x 3 1/4 inches. The movement is currently running, but not guaranteed to be in working order. Crystal missing. 7 mother-of-pearl plaques missing & several chipped. Lapis sphere: rich royal blue with minor light grayish patches and pyrite inclusions. Several minor hairline cracks on triangular lapis panels, slightly visible to eye. Circular gold panel at base engraved 1188. Lapis base: rich royal blue with scattering patches of grayish inclusions on base and pyrite inclusions, in center of base a sundial of triangular-shaped lapis panels, a visible hairline crack on side of base, several minor hairline cracks on another side, one slightly visible to eye. Nephrite: medium green with black inclusions. Rose-cut diamond eyes.
