Meta Vessel, 1982 Whiteware ht. 16, dia. 15 inches Bay Area artist Art Nelson studied at the University of Colorado, Boulder where he received his B.A. in 1964 and the College of Arts and Crafts (CCAC), Oakland where he received his M.F.A. in 1969. In the same year he began to teach at CCAC where he held the position of associate professor of art alongside his good friend Viola Frey Nelson’s “Meta Vessels” are double-walled forms, a tour de force of throwing skill and are among the first Postmodern works as the movement developed.
