ARTISTS, FRENCH AND BRITISH]. RUSKIN, John (1819-1900). Autograph letter signed ("J Ruskin") to Mr. Naves, Brantwood, Lancashire, 10 July n.y. 1 page, 8vo, on personal stationery, tipped to another sheet, Ruskin hopes "the drawings will come this evening," being "aghast at you not having had your copies." -- CRUIKSHANK, George (1792-1878). Autograph inscription and signature ("Geo.Cruikshank") on an etching designed by the artist "to represent his highly esteemed...friend, the late Thomas Ingoldsby Surrounded by some of the Characters, Good, Bad & Indifferent, which he has so graphically portrayed in his celebrated Legends," n.p., n.d. 1 page, the etching 215 x 142 mm., a proof neatly mounted, inscribed and signed in pencil. The etching shows Ingoldsby writing at a desk, surrounded by characters including witches on broomsticks, the devil, and knights, among others. Inscribed to Crawford J. Pocock "with the best regards of Geo.Cruikshank." -- CRUIKSHANK. Autograph letter signed ("Geo.Cruikshank" with bold flourish) to Kingston, Salisbury Square [London], 15 January 1818. 1 p., 4to, integral address leaf, on gilt-edged paper, fine. Informing Kingston that Mr. Hone "is much pleased with the Song & will be very happy to publish it...I have made a sketch for the top piece that I should wish you to see before it is etched." In a P.S. he adds that "Hone read the song...to his family & all the little Tits have been twitting about the House ever since..." -- BONHEUR, Rosa (1822-1889). Autograph Letter Signed ("R.Bonheur") to "Herbert," Magny les Hameaux(?), 9 March 1873. 1 p., large 8vo. In French. Bonheur apologises for not sending some paintings before today, explaining that it was due to the failure of her frame maker to keep his word. -- LANDSEER, Edwin. Autograph letter signed ("E.Landseer") to an unidentified correspondent, n.p, n.d. 2 pp., 8vo, small hole catching two letters, otherwise fine. Landseer requests the recipient to send for some pictures and to forward them to him. Together 5 items. (5)
