Asger Jorn (b. Vejrum 1914, d. Århus 1973) Asger Jorn Held og Hasard. Dolk og Guitar. Silkeborg 1952. 1st edition. Hand printed with 79 original linocuts in colour by Asger Jorn Limited ed, this #58 of 60 num. copies on unglazed paper, signed by the artist. Annotation on fly leaf. Bound in orig. decorated boards with clothspine. Asger Jorn (1914–1973) was the central figure in the Cobra movement around 1948. Only a few years later he became ill and was taken to the sanatorium in Silkeborg where he wrote his central work on aesthetics and philosophy “Held og Hasard” (1951–52). He said of this work: “Denne bog handler om det ophøjede, længslen mod det høje” (“This book deals with the sublime, the longing for the elevated”).
