Bound in orig. decorated boards with clothspine. Asger Jorn (1914–1973) was the central figure in the Cobra movement around 1948. Only a few years later he became ill and was taken to the sanatorium in Silkeborg where he wrote his central work on aesthetics and philosophy “Held og Hasard” (1951–52). He said of this work: “Denne bog handler om det ophøjede, længslen mod det høje” (“This book deals with the sublime, the longing for the elevated”).
