Lot of 18 daguerreotype portraits of gentlemen. Includes two quarter plate examples, 14 sixth plate examples, and two ninth plate examples. Highlights include a sixth plate portrait of a man with dark sideburns holding a quill and with a piece of paper on the table next to him, housed in a half pressed paper case; a sixth plate portrait of a handsome gentleman housed in a fully separated case with a scrap of paper containing four artistically wound locks of hair with inscriptions below identifying the sitter as Charles F. Basford and the hair as that of his mother, sister, and two other subjects; and a ninth plate portrait of a young gentleman with curly hair, housed in a full pressed paper case with a scrap of paper with ink inscription identifying the sitter. Six images housed in full cases (one being a push-button case), two images housed in cases fully separated at spine, seven images housed in half cases, two images housed under mat, glass, and preserver (no case), and one image housed under mat and glass (no preserver or case).
