Attributed to Nidai Muramasa, Momoyama period (late 16th century) Sugata (configuration): hon-zukuri, iori-mune, chu-gissaki shallow torii-zori Kitae (forging pattern): bright ko-itame in ji-nie Hamon (tempering pattern): notare mixed with gunome-choji-midare with ashi, sunagashi and tobi-yaki Boshi (tip): ko-maru, midare-komi Horimono (carving): bo-hi on both sides Nakago (tang): o-suriage with three holes and kiri file marks, silver-inlaid signature Muramasa and inscribed Hideyori tamawaru Kimura Shigenari shoji (Presented to Kimura Shigenari from Hideyori) Habaki (collar): two-piece, gold-foil decorated with the Toyotomi family crest Nagasa (length from tip to beginning of tang): 29 7/8 in (75.8cm) Motohaba (width at start of tempered edge): 1 1/4in (3.2cm) Sakihaba (width before tip): 7/8in (2.2cm) In shirasaya (wood storage scabbard) With a kantei certificate issued by the Higashi Nihon Bijutsu Token Kai (Eastern Japan Art Sword Society) ranking this blade as a Yusho token (superior sword), dated 1991.5.3
