Philadelphia, April 9th, 1786. 1 page, 4to; moderate creases along old folds, 1/2 inch (13 mm) tear upper right corner affecting date, scattered minor foxing. To Thomas Harwood, Esq., "I have this day drawn a bill on you at sight in favr [sic] of Messrs Josiah Wattson & Co. for thirty four thousand dollrs [sic]…" Strong contents and signature, light horizontal crease just touching the bottom of the "R" and "o" of Robert, vertical crease through the "b" of Robert. Housed in vintage frame with an engraving of Robert Morris (moderately foxed), transcription and ticket of Charles Sessler, Bookseller and Printseller afixed to the back of the frame. Robert Morris (1734-1806), signer of the Declaration of Independence, financier of the American Revolution, and delegate to the Constitutional Convention. Thomas Harwood (1743-1804), Annapolis merchant, served under Robert Morris and the Board of Treasury as Maryland commissioner of loans from 1777 and was reappointed under the new government in 1790.
