BAKER, Sir Samuel (1821-1893). Autograph letter signed to Carl Christian Giegler, 28 April 1878. 4 pages, 8vo, with autograph envelope to Giegler at Khartoum . This letter from Baker mentions the receipt of a letter from Emin Pasha at Mrooli in Unyoro and comments on how strange it is that the only European in the region should be a German (Emina Pasha). Baker quotes his own diaries of the 1860s about the unexplored areas of Lake Albert, and reports to Giegler that the party of English missionaries that were bound from Zanzibar to M'tesa have all been killed in an attack on an island in the Victoria N'yanza.
