BARRIERE, Dominique and Giovanni Battista FALDA. Villa Pamphilia eiusque palatium, cum suis prospectibus, statue, fontes, vivaria, theatre, areolae, plantarum, viarumque ordines, Rome: Joannes Jacobus de Rubeis, [c.1650]. 2°, frontispiece portrait of Camillo Panfilio, folding plan, engraved plates, many folding or double-page, most by and after Barrière, others by Falda, contemporary specked calf (worn). The Villa Pamphili was the most magnificent of the gardens created for Papal families in and around Rome in the 16th and 17th centuries, containing an unrivalled display of Roman and Hellenistic statuary among the trees, enhanced by fountains and balustrades.
