Europe, 1939/45 star with Battle of Britain clasp (entitlement confirmed), War Medal, SERGEANT PILOT 525152 ERNEST SCOTT R.A.F., killed in action 27/9/40, with box of issue addressed MRS. E. KENT CHESTERFIELD ROAD, MANSFIELD (Sergeant Scott's mother who had remarried), with three related photos and Scott's Royal Air Force papers confirming 'date of discharge'; with copy of long handwritten account by Albert Kent (Scott's half brother or step brother); with blank R.A.F. Ernest Scott (30.12.17 - 27/9/40) was born in Mansfield. He joined the R.A.F. in 1935 and received his pilot's wings in 1938. Scott was posted to the Spitfires of 222 Squadron at Duxford on 23rd March 1940. On 3rd September he claimed a Do17 and a Me109; on the 5th a probable Me110 and Me109; on the 7th he destroyed a Me109 with a probable on the 9th; on the 11th he shot down a He111 and returned to base with his hood shattered by a Me109. On the 27th September Scott claimed a Me109 and was himself posted as missing after an afternoon sortie on the same day.
