Engraved folding frontispiece, engraved folding portrait, 5 engraved plates (2 folding, 2 double-page), 82 engraved plates of the funeral procession (77 folding, plates 42-44 depicting the carriage and coffin joined together), after EOSANDER VON GöTHE, TERWESTEN and COXIE, by JOHANN GEORG WOLFGANG (Some light marginal worming, some dampstaining heavier at end, a few plates torn.) Publisher's boards, uncut (some staining and wear); cloth folding case. A record of the somber celebration of the funeral of SOPHIE CHARLOTTE (1668-1705), Duchess of Braunschweig und Lüneburg, and Queen of Prussia, as well as a friend and correspondent of the philosopher Gottfried Leibniz. Her premature death of pneumonia devastated her husband King Friedrich I. "Schloss Charlottenburg" in Berlin is named after her. The large engraved plates and the striking series of 82 engraved plates of the funeral procession are after JOHANN FRIEDRICH EOSANDER VON GöTHE (1669-1728). The work also includes a poem by Johann von Besser (1654-1729). Berlin 3126; Drugulin 3736; Lipperheide Sbb 13; Ruggerie 979; Vinet 700.
